about

AGN010

American artist Mark Rushton, based in Iowa City, Iowa has released four solo albums, two albums with bassist Jon Harnish and one album with the improv collective Ambient Matyk. Rushton has also presented original and live music in his semi-regular podcast at markrushton.com since 2004, and his music is the soundtrack for the interludes in the short fiction podcasts at Boundoff.com. He lives in Iowa City, Iowa, USA.

Some words from Mark about his release:
“The “Three Sketches” were created using a blend of field recordings, software, synths, and loops. They are what I call 'linear recordings' in that they don't have an arrangement, just a mix. They are like a straight line. You step on as the sounds are happening, and then you step off at the end. There may be minor variation throughout, but usually not enough to significantly divert the attention span. I listen to these sorts of pieces while concentrating on matters at work or enjoying a walking break outdoors. I have many hours of free music available for those who wish to further investigate my work.”
